Madden NFL 23 Standard Edition does not include free PS5 or Xbox Series XS upgrades
If you choose the standard Madden 23 on PS4 or Xbox One, you won't be able to upgrade to its PS5 or Xbox Series XS version later. Only those who purchase Madden NFL 23 All Madden Edition are eligible for the free next-gen upgrade as part of EA's Dual Entitlement Program. But the special edition costs a whopping $99.99 / ￡89.99 / AU$149.95. That's a chunk higher than the $59.99/￡59.99/AU$99.95 price tag for the PS4 and Xbox One Standard Editions.
Madden 23's pricing structure matches what we saw last year when FIFA 22 was released. Those who bought the Standard Edition of EA's flagship sports game won't be able to upgrade to the next-gen console and have to rely on the expensive FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition to run on both generations of hardware.
As one of EA's mainline sports games, it will continue to attract players despite the high cost of leveling up and the Madden 23 Coins required to level up skills.
