Drakes are a pretty new creature in Runescape, so if you have been away for quite a while you might not have seen Drakes before. This Drakes guide is intended for players like you and players who are new to fighting them. I'll attempt to offer some tips from an expert for more experienced players.
Drakes are pretty easy to catch, however it takes quite some time and you may not take a great deal of time on the course of a trip. This is due to their huge defensive bonus. If you're looking for variety in your slayer tasks and have different mechanics compared to most Slayer monsters, then you'll enjoy drakes. If you're looking for the greatest amount of experience from slayers in an hour, I highly recommend to block the tasks. Both combat and slayer's exp is quite low, and you're not likely to get new levels very quickly.
If you have an ironman account, and you are looking for the best equipment within the game then you'll need to fight them until you receive certain drops , such as their teeth and claws. The Drakes are only killed after 84 slayers, which means you'll have the battle you need to take them down by that stage.
What are the most important stats I need to Kill Drakes And What Is Recommended?
These beasts aren't merely a nuisance they can be killed when you leave the tutorial island. They are designed for mid-level to high-level accounts which are equipped with a powerful combat and Slayer lever.
Mandatory Stats and Requirements To Kill These
84 slayer - Drakes are just a few levels below the slayer requirements of abyssal demons. This is an extremely top level, and it will require weeks, if not months, to get. If you are planning to get your slayer trained all the way to 84 from a low level the cost won't be worth it. It is better to aim for 85, as the Abyssal demons offer better drops.
It is possible to access Mount Karuulm - by the time you've reached this Slayer level, you'll likely be able to reach this point. You'll need to complete some short and simple quests, if you do not have. You will also get the chance to meet a brand new Slayer Master once you get to the Mount. The name is Konar and gives a special type of slayer.
Recommended Stats To Kill Drakes Effectively
It is essential to have at least a decent level of combat. Your skills won't be effective because of the defensive bonus of a Drake. You can take them down easily with melee or ranged attack. I think that ranged is the more effective here, especially if do not have Dragonbane weapons available.
Melee Stats:
You'll require an Attack level of at least 80, I think 90 is the level at which you are likely to notice a noticeable differences in the speed at which kills are made.
I suggest you have at minimum a Strength of 80 or higher, I would recommend at least 85 so your hits do decent damage.
A defense level of 80 or higher is extremely beneficial. The higher the better. If you're equipped with a powerful gear it will be able to take decently long rides starting at the 85th level and onwards.
You will need to have around a Hitpoints Level that is at least 80. The higher your hit points the better of course however if you have at only able to score 60 points in this combat that isn't an issue. You just need to make sure that you're not being KO'd.
If you are using melee, then you are going to need to pray at least 70 or more for to pray the Piety prayer. If you have a higher level, the prayer potions will be restored more, which is very efficient to help you prolong your trips.
Ranged Stats:
You'll need at least a level of at least 75 to take part in some effective excursions. However, I highly suggest you get at least 85, or it will have to wait a while to kill a single Drake.
A defense level of 90 or more is very useful. The higher the level, the more effective. If you have strong gear, you will have decently long travel times starting at level 95 and higher. The reason for this higher level is due to the difference in gear between range and melee armor. If you're able to keep your distance, and possess a decent magic defense, you can easily get by with a defense of 70.
Similar to when you use melee, you will need to have at least a Hitpoints score of at least 80. The higher your hitpoints , the more powerful, however if you're only able to get any reason only having 60 hit points in this fight, that isn't a problem. Just make sure you are not getting KO'ed.
A Deep Dive In Drake Drops
100 Percent Drops
Drake bone - they are always shed the bones. Depending on the ge, they are worth about 2k each. I recommend you pick up the items to then put them in the grave. Making it to the banks can be quite a long trip and will hamper your exp and take an hour more. You will get 80 prayers for your money if you place them in a grave without an unsavory offering, glittering altar, or ectofungus.
High-Value drops
Drake's tooth - This is an original drop from Drakes. They are used in the making of the most reverent boots. It is necessary to have a pair of holy sandals and a drake's teeth to make them. If you create those boots, you will have the top in slot boots for prayer bonus. It offers a huge +5 prayer reward and is very useful for those who require as much prayer as feasible.
Drake's claw can buy the drake claw as well at a decent price of 1 in 500 drakes. It is useful as you can use it in conjunction with the stone boots for a pair of boots made of brimstone. These boots don't only protect your footwear from the cavern floor and the cavern floor, but they also provide additional stats that are pretty decent. They're worth it based on the prices of the market - between 400 and 600 dollars.
Dragon Thrown Axe - While the weapon is not very useful to kill bosses, it does have one of the top special attacks in pvp if you're not in an Slayer-related task. You have a 1 in 000 chanceof getting it, however if you have a task like this, you'll have a one out of 2 000 chance to obtain them.
Dragon Knife Dragon Knife - It is one of the most versatile throwing instruments to use for training. But they're expensive and aren't something that you could use at any time you'd like to have some money in your savings account. If you're not in the slayers' list, you have a 1 in 10 000 chance, if you are on a slayer task, you'll have a one in 2 000 chance to get these.
